WORDPRESS:
Wordpress is a wonderful blogging platform that can be used to run a professional blog. Joomla is more of a Content management system for larger more business tuned sites. If you don’t know what you would rather please send me an email and we can discuss the differences and benefits.
Check out a demo of the administration portion of Wordpress right here: Wordpress Demo
Use the following to log in:
Username: admin
Password: demo123
You can see all the posts you have made and edit them right form within the browser none of that messing with the code. Comments, categories, tags, and pages are managed form the dashboard.
It does look very plain and basic but that’s because that is just the default template, have a look at my two Wordpress
sites: http://www.amianonymous.net and http://willhall.ca
to get an idea of some of the things you can do with Wordpress.
Look at all the other free themes you can choose from (again I will help you install them): Wordpress Templates
JOOMLA:
The other software I would recommend for a website content management system is Joomla. You can see a Joomla site in action by going to my computer service and repair web site at:
It is a little more heavy weight then Wordpress but is wonderful in terms of extensions configuration and customization. Major companies uses Joomla for their websites, some names include:
Burger King (For a special promotion),
IT Wire (Most popular IT site in Australia),
Nikon Instruments (High-quality technical products),
Sprint (Customer feedback site for cell-phone company),
Toshiba (Greek site for the electronics giant) and
Yamaha (Musical instrument company's Mexican site).
Again there are many free templates available: Here
You can sign up for a demo here: http://demo.joomla.org/ it really is worth the 5 minutes to setup an account and check it out. It may be just what you are looking for.
Let me know if there is anything you have questions about or dont know where to get started. We have lots of experience with tese technologies and web design in general.
